Join us for an evening of inspiring live jazz from one of the UK’s most accomplished and distinctive ensembles. Kairos Ensemble brings together four musicians whose friendship began while studying in London in the early 1990s. Since forming the group in 2001, they have captivated audiences at festivals, jazz clubs, and concert venues across the UK and France. Their music blends inventive jazz, strong melodies, and vibrant improvisation, creating performances that are passionate, lyrical, and engaging. Their latest album, Here is Love (2026), features fresh jazz arrangements of classic hymns.

Dirk Paterson will be hosting free vocal workout sessions as part of the Wivenhoe Music Trail. Come and experience the Wivenhoe Gospel Choir in action.

Participants will discover their voices through fun, exhilarating, and accessible music-making. You’ll learn to sing in harmony, explore a range of vocal colours and techniques, and enjoy the experience of singing together. No previous choral experience is required.

About Dirk Paterson

Dirk studied at the Royal Academy of Music and was awarded the RAM Opera Prize. He also studied choral conducting and holds LRAM and BMus (RAM/KCL) qualifications.
